The Story Behind Hamersley's Pantry
Sophie Dunn (formerly Hamersley) made a lifelong dream come true when she opened the Pantry in 2025. Growing up in her parents’ restaurant, Hamersley’s Bistro, in the South End, Sophie spent her childhood drawing on paper tablecloths, greeting guests, and watching her Dad in his infamous Red Sox hat call out orders from behind the line. By age 8, she was running her own “store,” complete with a shoebox register, saran-wrapped paper pastries, and her golden retriever Chester as the world’s most patient general manager.
Even after a career in communications took her in a different direction, food kept calling her back. Sophie has always been obsessed with markets, hidden gems, the best brunch spots, cookbooks with dog-eared pages, and traveling just to taste something new. Hamersley’s Pantry is where all that love comes to life—a place that makes eating, hosting, and gifting way more fun.
Nestled in South Boston, her home and neighborhood, the Pantry is meant to become part of your routine—whether you’re popping in for your favorite snack, grabbing something for dinner, hunting for a last-minute gift, or simply discovering something new.
